Liverpool will hope to tempt Real Madrid into selling Karim Benzema this January with the offer of £39m for the French striker, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.

The Reds are in need of improvements in attack this season after being hit hard by the summer depature of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, with the £75m Uruguayan scoring 31 goals for the club last season.
Summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have not proven successful for manager Brendan Rodgers, while Daniel Sturridge has also been a big loss through injury so far this term.
There’s no doubt Benzema could make a major improvement upfront for Liverpool if they do manage to bring him in, though it is thought that Real would not be keen to letting him go in the middle of the season.
The 26-year-old has been on top form for Real this year, scoring 14 goals and weighing in with a further eight assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s in-form side.
