The German forward has been linked to moves all over Europe, including Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal. If Madrid are going to pull out of the race for the Dortmund man, then it could leave the way open for any of these three, as well as FC Barcelona to swoop for the player.

The President – who started the ‘Galacticos’ philosophy at the Spanish club – has said that he doesn’t know where Reus would fit in to the side, with so many attacking players already in the squad. Perez would not know who to sell to make room for the 26-year-old.

“We follow Reus, as we follow other great players. As a coach, I do not know who would be removed to make room for Reus,” he told Marca.

“Except for extraordinary circumstances, no signings will be made in the January transfer window and now there is nothing.”

So if the German is not going to become a Galactico, then where could he end up?
