The 24-year-old goalkeeper is a target for a number of top European clubs, with Liverpool also thought to be interested.

Trapp could be available for as little as £4m in January, with the Bundesliga star’s recent performances attracting a lot of attention.

Wenger already has the trio of Wojciech Szczesny, David Ospina, and Damien Martinez at his disposal, but may still be looking to add to the roster.

Ospina has struggled for fitness since making the switch from Nice in the summer, and has rarely been available for selection. And while Martinez performed well during his recent stint in goal, he is still very raw and may still need more time to realise his potential.

A goalkeeper will certainly not be the French manager’s top priority in January, but if the right player is available he surely won’t hesitate to bring him to the Emirates.
