Arsenal have been repeatedly linked to Bundesliga duo Christoph Kramer and Marco Reus, as well as Brazilian star Lucas Silva. It was thought that Wenger was likely to miss out on all three however, with Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti looking to lure them to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish giants’ president Florentino Perez has recently revealed that the club won’t be looking to bring any new faces to the club in January however, leaving the Gunners free to pursue their trio of targets.

“Except for extraordinary circumstances, no signings will be made in the January transfer window and now there is nothing,” said Perez.

The North Londoners are in dire need of a defensive midfielder, and with Silva tipped to be a future star he could prove to be a fantastic addition to the side.

With Madrid out of the running the Gunners are surely in pole position to sign the youngster, so if Wenger is willing to meet Cruzeiro’s asking price then Arsenal fans could soon get the dominant midfielder they have been clamouring for for so long.
