The Belgian keeper has displaced Petr Cech as the Blues’ No.1 this season, following superb back to back seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Cech has been back in goal recently however, with Courtois sidelined with a muscular problem. It is assumed that the youngster will reclaim his starting spot once fit, although Mourinho was unable to confirm when that will be.

The Portuguese boss refused to guarantee Courtois’ involvement, but did say that he was hopeful that the 22-year-old would pass a late fitness test.

With the Blues’ trip to the Britannia Stadium not until Monday, the shot-stopper has plenty of time to recover before facing the Potters. If he is not fit however, fans of the West Londoners will at least be confident that they have one of the best deputy goalkeepers in the world.
