Former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland striker Darren Bent has had two luxury cars stolen after burglars broke into his Little Aston home and stole the keys.

The assailants broke into the Staffordshire home of the Aston Villa forward, who is currently on loan at Brighton And Hove Albion, in the early hours of December 13 and took the keys to Bent’s Ranger Rover and Audi RS6.

Local police were called to Bent’s home at 3.15am and found that locks on the striker’s uPVC windows had been forced open.

Sergeant Richard Morris told the Birmingham Mail: “Offenders have snapped the lock cylinder in two by applying force to the cylinder. Thieves have devised methods of snapping these types of cylinders locks in a matter of seconds while still being able to operate the lock to open the door. They’re then able to look for the keys to the cars they’ve seen outside and drive them away.”

Bent isn’t the only footballing victim of burglary recently, in November Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama had his Range Rover Sport stolen whilst he competed in a 1-1 draw with Bent’s parent club Aston Villa.
