Louis van Gaal has revealed that Manchester United’s record signing could make the bench against Villa, with Adi Maria set to make his long awaited return from injury.
“He trained with us this week but he is not match fit,” van Gaal said.
“Maybe I select him on the bench, but maybe not.”
The Argentine winger has missed the last three games, as the former Real Madrid star picking up a hamstring injury during United’s win over Hull City.
Di Maria has been fantastic for the Red Devils since his £59.7m switch from La Liga, and was a shining light in the early goings of the season when his side were struggling.
He will be returning to a side in great form however, and van Gaal will be hoping to keep the winning streak going with a victory over a faltering Villa side.
Radamel Falcao is also in contention for a start, with the Colombian looking for a bigger role at Old Trafford after being restricted to the bench for most of the season.
