The first of the duo set to arrive will apparently be Sampdoria keeper Sergio Romero, with talks between the Premier League and Serie A sides said to be at an advanced stage.

The experienced custodian is said to be available for as little as £1.6m, which is an absolute bargain when you consider 27 year old was the man who helped Argentina to the World Cup final this summer.

Romero spent last term on loan at AS Monaco and is seemingly surplus to requirements back in Genoa and will be a very useful addition to Liverpool’s squad and would provide real competition for recently dropped first choice starter Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool are also apparently looking to complete the signing of in-form Palermo forward Paulo Dybala, with the 21 year old said to have a massive £31m price-tag.

That may prove a little too steep a valuation though no doubt Liverpool would look to negotiate that fee down.

It’s true Dybala is in a fine run of form, seven goals and four assists in 15 Serie A fixtures this season, it’s hard to imagine any side would spend £30m+ on a player of relatively little top tier experience.

Any move for Dybala will surely put more pressure on summer signing Mario Balotelli, who’s season has lurched from one disaster to the next, the Italian international is still without a Premier League goal and has been hit with a one match ban following his ill-advised instagram post.
