Reports in the Guardian confirm that their 2-1 loss against struggling Werder Bremen leaves the 2013 Champions League finalists just a point off the bottom of the Bundesliga table heading into the winter break.

The talented teenager Davie Selke scored Werder’s first goal in the third minute and last season’s runners-up never recovered, their leaking defence and lack of attacking ideas proving costly, with Mats Hummels late goal not enough to cancel out Fin Bartels’ strike.

Klopp has been linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal this season, with under-pressure duo Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger both linked with exits from their respective clubs this season.

According to the Daily Mail, there are those at Liverpool who feel Rodgers deserves time to come through the current crisis, especially after coming so close to the Premier League title in May.

Even some of his fiercest critics believe that he should be allowed the rest of the season at least. But names are being bandied about the Anfield corridors of power and Klopp is frequently mentioned.

The Independent adds that there can be no more dangerous position in world football than that of the putative successor to Arsène Wenger at Arsenal, and that fans have gone off the idea of Klopp being that man.
