Liverpool Surprisingly Set To Allow In Form Midfielder To Depart On Loan

Reds could sanction an Inter Milan move for Lucas Leiva.

Liverpool could allow experienced Brazilian central midfielder Lucas Leiva to join Serie A giants Inter Milan on loan when the transfer window reopens, report talkSPORT, despite the fact that the holding star has been one of their more impressive performers during the club’s dismal recent form, with his solid presence in midfield a real plus in some games for Brendan Rodgers.

Talk of an Anfield exit has dogged Lucas ever since he lost his place as first choice central midfield at the club to a combination of Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen, however, so it would be no surprise if the Reds did allow him to leave to join Roberto Mancini’s underachieving Italian giants.

Now one of the club’s most long serving players, Lucas was rated as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world during his time playing under former manager Rafa Benitez, but his stock has dropped in recent seasons – although Benitez was linked with a move to bring him to Napoli in the summer according to the report.

It is the Serie A side from further north who seem like they are winning the race for Lucas, though, with the report suggesting that the club are in talks with Lucas’ representatives to discuss the prospect of the player moving to the San Siro.
