Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Insists He Has Money To Spend In January

But the Frenchman will only be willing to smash out on the right player.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that the money is there for the Frenchman to spend in the January transfer window, report the Mirror, but the long-serving Emirates Stadium boss will only move into the winter transfer market, where it is notoriously tough to find good value, if the right players become available.

Wenger has come under fire in the past from supporters who have felt that he has been reluctant to spend significant sums on the top class players that the Gunners’ squad appeared to require, although the recent signings of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have meant that viewpoint no longer really holds any water.

Sanchez and, to a lesser extent, Ozil have both had significant impacts since being brought in and have slotted right into Wenger’s footballing philosophy, showing the fruits of his belief in only moving into the market for the right player, something that he has indicated will be the case once again this January:

“What I don’t like is to spend money that I do not have. Now I have money so there is no problem spending it at all. What I fought against was spending money that would have put the future of the club in danger. If we find the right player, we will do it. Without any doubt.”

“There is a huge difference between the perception people have of me and the reality. I am not scared to spend money. If you go out with me one night, you will understand that!”

It is in defensive midfielder where it is widely believed that Wenger needs to move into the market and spend another significant sum on a world class talent to solve a real problem area.
