The Reds have been encouraged to approach Ajax by the in-demand coach.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer is one of the most sought after managers in Europe, and with Liverpool potentially looking for a manager in the near future, fans of the Reds will be delighted to hear that the Dutchman is keen on a move to Anfield.

“If Liverpool are interested I will think about it. I’m not going to close the door immediately, as I did two years ago,” Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo quote the coach as saying.

Brendan Rodgers lead Liverpool to the brink of the title last year, but the Reds’ form has been dreadful this year. De Boer meanwhile has won four consecutive Eredivisie titles in the Netherlands, and could soon be looking for a new challenge. As he says, he turned down Liverpool two years ago, and Tottenham last summer.

André Villas-Boas, Jurgen Klopp and Rafa Benitez are amongst the other favourites to replace Brendan Rodgers if the Liverpool owners do indeed pull the trigger. While the latter two are teetering on the brink of sackings themsevles, Villas-Boas is doing well and may soon be available if the economic problems in Russia continue.
