The Old Trafford outfit spent over £150m over the summer but seemingly the club’s owners are ready to once again finance big moves in the transfer market in order to secure that all important top four finish and a crucial return to European football’s top table.

Van Gaal has sent scouts to track Enzo Perez and Nicolas Gaitan as Benfica take on Gil Vicente on Sunday and the Premier League side are ready to pay the pair’s respective transfer release clauses, which amount to a massive £51m.

28 year old midfielder Perez was instrumental in his side’s superb campaign in 2013/14, when Jorge Jesus’s side secured four trophies, including the Primeira Liga title.

Winger Gaitan has long been on the Man United radar and though the 26 year old only signed a new contract with the Lisbon outfit last month it is believed he is still very much a Man United target.

Interest in the Argentine international pair may well lead the likes of Anderson, Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young and Adnan Januzaj to fear for their collective futures at Man United.
