Spurs technical director Franco Baldini and Paul Mitchell, new head of recruitment, have made a move for the Baggies man their number one January transfer window priority.

The White Hart Lane side are readying a £15m offer for the 21 year old though that is someway below West Brom’s reported £25m price-tag.

West Brom had been looking to offer Berahino a lucrative new contract following his superb start to the season but the player’s recent drink-drive arrest has slowed down the process.

Tottenham are willing to treble Berahino’s current £16k a week deal and a move to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side may well tempt the Burundi born ace.

Though West Brom are struggling for form, Alan Irvine’s side just two points above the relegation zone, Berahino has racked up seven goals in 14 Premier League starts this season.

Pochettino has seen the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado all struggle in front of goal this term though fortunately youngster Harry Kane has been in fine form.
