Parent club Chelsea are adamant that they will not take the Spaniard back, with him having had a torrid time at both the Serie A giants and the Stamford Bridge outfit in recent times.

The 30-year-old has not scored since his debut for Filippo Inzaghi’s side, and has only completed 90 minutes on one occasion so far.

The fact that the Italian club are attempting to get rid of the striker could pique the interest of former clubs Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, who have both been linked to the player in the past few weeks.

The San Siro based side are apparently so desperate to get rid of the flop that they are willing to take on what will undoubtedly be some complicated negotiations with the current loan deal making things trickier than usual.

The Reds may want to sign their former player as they have struggled for goals this season with  new signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli both finding it difficult at the club.
