Reus has a €25m release clause at the Signal Iduna Park that becomes active at the end of the season and with their Qatari backing PSG will easily be able to meet this price.

Also with Dortmund struggling in the Bundesliga currently – last year’s runners-up are joint bottom – there is every chance their best players will be keen to leave.

However, having already be sanctioned for breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rule this term the reigning French champions are wary of how much they spend.

That is why a move will only be made for Reus if Cavani finally leaves the Parc des Princes and moves to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Uruguay international and the striker himself could be tempted to leave having failed to truly settle in the French capital.

Due to the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic the 27-year-old has often being asked to play out wide by manager Laurent Blanc and although Cavani has shown good form despite this, the South American would much prefer to operate as a traditional No.9.

Ezequiel Lavezzi could also be on his way out, with the Argentine’s former club Napoli and Valencia believed to be interested.
