The Gunners need a defensive midfielder…

Arsenal are interested in signing Rubin Kazan’s defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila in January, according to the Daily Express.

The Frenchman is currently on loan at Inter Milan, but the Serie A giants are expected to terminate his loan in order to cut costs as they look to pass the financial fair play rules. However, the 24-year-old apparently refuses to go back to Russia after going on strike to force a move away in the summer.

This means that it is likely that he will be one the move again, and with the Gunners needing a defensive midfielder he could be a cut price option. He would certainly cost less than other alternatives that they have been linked to such as Christoph Kramer and Sami Khedira.

With the North London club so desperately in need of a defensively responsible player in the middle of the park, this will not be last time that they are linked to a player of M’Vila’s ilk. Whether they actually sign anyone will be more down to the stubbornness of manager Arsene Wenger than any newspaper stories.
