Mesut Ozil has been out with a knee injury since the beginning of October. Meanwhile Koscielny did make a short return from an achilles injury last month for a while only to be ruled out again with a calf strain. It had been hoped that the Frenchman would be able to make it for Friday’s match against QPR, but he will now have to wait until Sunday’s fixture against West Ham.

On the other hand, the German has been out long term, and will be welcomed back in to the fold with open arms. The North London club will be hoping that the man they paid a club record transfer fee for will be able to bring consistency to their results that they have been lacking so far this season.

Arsene Wenger told reporters, “Laurent Koscielny is short for Friday… maybe back on Sunday,” and continued to say on Mesut Ozil, “He’ll be back at the beginning of January. He works very hard and is very focused.”
