Premier League sides have joined Milan, Juventus and others in the chase for a young French talent…

Chelsea and Everton are amongst a host of teams chasing Sofiane Boufal, the French midfielder who plays in Ligue 2 with Angers.

Yvan Le Mee, the player’s agent, told French magazine Le 10 Sport that clubs from across Europe are enquiring about the youngster’s future.

“What I can tell you is that a lot of big foreign clubs are watching: Italian clubs such as AC Milan or Juventus but also Portuguese or English clubs,” Le Mee said.

Le 10 Sport claims that the English clubs include Chelsea and Everton, although they provide no concrete source.

Marseille are also tipped to be interested in the youngster, with chairman Vincent Labrune’s recent strategy focusing on picking up young French talent from the lower leagues.

Several signings from Ligue 2 have proved to be a success in European leagues in recent seasons. Romain Alessandrini is one of those who Marseille have already taken on board, Yassine Brahimi is building a big name for himself at Porto, and Diafra Sakho has been a revelation in the Premier League for West Ham this season.

Those clubs chasing Boufal will hope he can make a similar impact at their club if he makes the switch in January.
