Ogengyi Onazi Reveals He Would Jump At The Chance To Play Liverpool

The Reds will be boosted by the quotes from the midfielder…

Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has admitted that he wouldn’t be able to turn down a move to Liverpool if the opportunity arose.

Nigeria international Onazi has told Super Sport that he has “always wanted to play in England” and would love the opportunity to play for 18-times league winners Liverpool.

Liverpool were linked with the Lazio star last January, but the move allegedly broke down because of a disagreement over personal terms.

With Liverpool desperate for fresh faces, they may be a little more generous with their terms this time round.

“Of course [I will say yes] if Liverpool comes for me. They are a great club.”

Onazi has made just four starts for Lazio in Seria A this season, increasing speculation over his future.

The 21-year-old may have fallen down the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico this term but his stock remains high internationally.

In the summer Lazio said they would listen to offers of around £8m for Onazi, but none were forthcoming, and the midfielders ended up signing a new deal in Italy.

Sunderland, Everton and Southampton were the Premier League sides linked with the player over the summer.

Nigeria failed to qualify for this spring’s Africa Cup of Nations, meaning that Onazi is free to play throughout January.
