Due to expiring contracts, hideous form, and a number of players that Brendan Rodgers reckons are surplus to requirements, the Telegraph reports that Liverpool could get rid of up to 12 defenders in the summer of 2015.

Both Liverpool keepers (Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones) are named in the report, as well as ten other defenders.

Kolo Toure, Jon Flanagan, Glen Johnson and Jones are all out of contract in the summer, and could be available to leave on a free.

Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Jose Enrique and Martin Skrtel are seriously failing to impress, while Sebastian Coates, Andre Wisdom and Tiago Ilori are currently out on loan – with little chance of them being making the Anfield grade.

Javier Manquillo is only on loan with the Reds, and could eventually be sent back to parent club Atletico Madrid. What’s more, this report doesn’t even name Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno; two summer signings who’ve been pretty woeful so far!
