The 23 year old Italian international is tipped to leave the Stadio Olimpico after talks between the club and the forward broke down.
The £20m rated ace finished last season as the club’s top-scorer in Serie A despite starting just 14 fixtures, netting 13 goals, and continues to be used sparingly by boss Rudi Garcia.
It’s therefore no surprise that Destro would be linked with a move though one wonders if Arsenal would need to target the former Siena and Genoa man given the options they currently possess in the final third.
Arsene Wenger brought in Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck to boost his attack over the summer and sees Olivier Giroud as his first choice central striking option. On top of this trio of talent the Frenchman can also call upon Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell.
If the north London side are to invest in their squad in the January transfer window, and that’s a big IF, then Wenger is surely far more likely to target a defensive addition ahead of a bid for Destro.
