The 24 year old Italian has scored just two goals in 15 appearances since his £16m move to Anfield, and none of those came in Premier League action, and Roberto Mancini is reportedly considering a move to re-sign the former San Siro man.

Rodgers want to sign Baggies ace Berahino, who has a £24m price-tag, but will look to find a buyer for Balotelli before pursuing the England Under 21 international.

Berahino’s seven goals in 14 starts this term is perhaps all the more impressive given his side’s standing just above the Premier League relegation zone.

Liverpool will reportedly look to make an offer for Berahino early in the January transfer window though Tottenham and Man United are also said to be keen on the Hawthorns starlet.

Rodgers is severely lacking an end product in the final third and even though Daniel Sturridge is nearing a return to the first team he could well do with further firepower.
