Chelsea and West Ham kick off the festive schedule in the early game on Friday morning. The teams meet at Stamford Bridge with both in good form. Chelsea beat Stoke 2-0 on Monday night, while West Ham will have had an extra two days rest after beating Leicester by the same scoreline on Saturday.
It will be a close game, with Sam Allardyce’s West Ham proving in recent week that their great season is no coincidence, and that they can take on the big sides and come out victorious.
Eden Hazard is a major doubt for the Blues after being battered by Stoke’s defenders, and with plenty of important fixtures coming up Mourinho won’t want to risk aggravating the problem.
Chelsea battered West Ham last season but couldn’t break through and were held to a draw. The Hammers are even better this year, but so are Chelsea, and the end result could be another stalemate.
Overall, the Blues should have just enough firepower to see off their London rivals, but it will be a serious test for them.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 West Ham
