The young Belgian became a regular for the Red Devils last season but has since struggled for playing time under van Gaal, with plenty of competition for places in a number of midfield positions.

This has led to speculation that Januzaj could join the likes of Paris Saint-Germain on a temporary deal to gain some experience, but when asked about these rumours, van Gaal denied that there was any truth to them.

Quoted on United’s official Twitter page, the Dutchman explained that he does not feel Januzaj needs the experience of a loan move and that he is already an important part of the club’s first-team plans, suggesting that there could be a role for him later on in the campaign.
