The German international has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Bernabeu next summer in a £20m deal as he is supposedly lined up to replace another United target, Gareth Bale.

Still, it seems as though Louis van Gaal remains keen on keeping contact with Reus’ representatives if a move does become possible, with the player’s future perhaps still undecided.

Bayern are also contenders to sign the 25-year-old but it has been suggested that he could favour another move to avoid the controversy of joining a rival, as his old team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski have done in recent years.

Reus would be another big-name arrival at Old Trafford after a busy summer this year saw the likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao join the club under the big spending plans of new manager van Gaal.
