Celtic manager Ronny Deila has said that he expects to keep Virgil van Dijk at Parkhead, despite Arsenal and Liverpool being tipped to move for the defender in the January transfer window.

Liverpool and the Gunners – both of whom have problems at the back – are keen on the 6 ft 4 in centre-back, according to The Scotsman.

However, Deila expects him to stay.

He said: “Virgil is worth a lot of money, but I am very calm [about a January move].

“Virgil is enjoying his football, playing well and, when I speak with him, he’s happy here. That’s positive. He is such an important player for us.”
