A return to the Nou Camp looks unlikely at this point, with the Cameroon international unlikely to want to go back to retake his place on the bench. But would a return to Arsenal ever be on the cards?

With West Ham set to take on Arsenal on Sunday, Song spoke highly of his old club. He is well aware of just how much he owes to the Gunners and Arsene Wenger, and believes everything he has achieved in his career is thanks to the North London club.

“Always, this big family will be in my heart. I’ll never forget because what I am now is because of Arsenal, but now it’s important to play against them,” he said.

“We’ll enjoy the game, it’s not easy when you play your old team. I just have to do my job.

“Right now, I’m a West Ham player and will focus on that game. We know it’s not easy, but I will try to help my team win the game.”

Arsene Wenger has said before that there is no chance that Song will be returning to the Emirates, with the defensive midfielder allegedly a negative influence in the dressing room.

He failed to break into the Barcelona team following his £15m move in 2012, and has always said that when he leaves the Catalan giants he would prefer a return to the Premier League.
