Arsene Wenger has spoken to defensive midfielder Krystian Bielik ahead of a possible January transfer to Arsenal…

Arsenal look to be closing in on the signing of 16-year-old Krystian Bielik, with the player himself admitting that Arsene Wenger wanted to bring him to the Emirates, reports Polish Publication Legionisci.

The promising young defensive midfielder currently plies his trade with Legia Warsaw in Poland, but revealed that a move to Arsenal was all but inevitable.

Arsene Wenger allegedly has a three-year plan to fast track the Polish star into the first team, involving a combination of training with the first team and playing at youth level.

“Wenger said what he sees in me, then asked me about my strengths. It turns out that we had a similar opinion,” said Bielik.

“He said I would start training with the first-team under his guidance, and then it all depends on me.

“He knows that I have the skills, and I am determined to win and he wants to sign me as soon as possible to start working with me.

“I would train with the first-team and play in the junior teams – U18, U19 or U21 — and Wenger says that if I am good enough to stay in the first team, I will remain in it.”

Arsenal are badly in need of a defensive midfielder, although at 16-years-old Bielik is unlikely to be ready to make the step up any time soon. With Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini getting on in years, it is imperative for the Gunners that Arsene Wenger invests in a player who can dominate in midfield.

The Frenchman’s policy of youth works fantastically, but needs to be combined with astute experienced signings as well.
