The 20 year old Serbian international moved to Anfield in a £20m deal over the summer but has only played a limited role in Brendan Rodgers’ plans thus far and as such Estádio da Luz boss Jorge Jesus fancies his chances of welcoming back the attacker on a short term deal.

Markovic has started just four of Liverpool’s 18 Premier League fixtures this season, and as subbed on two of those occasions, but has seen out 90 minute run-outs in recent encounters with Arsenal and Burnley and as such may not be a player Rodgers is keen on losing for the second half of the current campaign.

Clearly Rodgers sees Markovic as a long term prospect but may not see the benefit of losing the youngster given the fact that a number of his attacking options are failing to impress of late.
