Liverpool have endured a difficult start to the new campaign, dropping out of the Champions League and struggling domestically as well. They are badly missing the goals of Luis Suarez, with the Uruguayan making a big money move to Barcelona over the summer.

Rodgers’ summer acquisition of Mario Balotelli has proved an unmitigated disaster, with the controversial Italian failing to find his feet during his second spell in the Premier League.

A former England international, Marsh believes Rodgers’ time at Anfield is over; as is that of Mario Balotelli.

“The manager has lost his way,” said Marsh.

“He might be a good coach, but a bad manager.

“The Balotelli signing is one of the most embarrassing signings in the history of the Premier League, and that is down to the manager. He [Balotelli] is a certainty to go in January.”

The Northern Irish manager will almost certainly need to dip back into the transfer market in January, with Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini just not cutting it this season. With his summer signings performing so poorly however, will the board be willing to trust Rodgers with further funds?
