Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal was delighted with the win at Old Trafford, but not with the Christmas schedule…

Louis van Gaal is not happy with the Christmas schedule, and believes he does not have enough time to prepare adequately for Manchester United’s game against Tottenham this Sunday, reports BT Sport.

The Dutchman’s side were impressive against Newcastle on boxing day, running out comfortable 3-1 winners in a game they truly dominated.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney grabbed himself a brace, and then turned provider for Robin van Persie to net the third.

Van Gaal was happy with the performance at Old Trafford, but was less pleased at having such little time to prepare for their trip to White Hart Lane.

He claims there is no longer time to prepare the way he normally would, and that certain features of his usual regime would have to be skipped.

“With FIFA and UEFA, it’s forbidden to play within 48 hours. In England, it’s okay,” he said.

“I cannot prepare my team like I have to prepare. We have unit meetings, and team meetings, we have training 11 against 11, and assimilating opponents. We cannot do that now.”

United have been on a fantastic run of results recently, with their win against Newcastle extending their unbeaten run to eight games.

Having been written off at the start of the season, the Red Devils are now targeting a title challenge. And while Chelsea still retain a ten point lead, the task no longer seems insurmountable.
