Reports in the Daily Star claim that the 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months, and that Arsene Wenger has finally began to make progress on a deal to bring the Uruguayan to London.

According to the source, the Gunners chief has been lifted by the news the Ligue 1 champions, who have ruled out selling Cavani on numerous occasions, have left the striker out of the club’s winter training camp in Marrakech.

In a press release on their official website, PSG confirmed that Cavani, who has scored 13 goals in all competitions so far this season, would not be travelling to Marrakech, but failed to explain the reason for his absence.

Cavani’s omission has sparked intense speculation that he could be on his way to Arsenal, with the Gunners looking to pursue yet another marquee signing to join Ozil, and summer buy Alexis Sanchez – who has been a huge hit since his arrival from Barcelona.
