Louis van Gaal has seen his side turn the corner with a marvelous run of form that puts them in pole position to secure a top four finish having won seven and drawn two of their last nine Premier League fixtures, helping their push for Depay, who has been dubbed the ‘New Cristiano Ronaldo’.

On the subject of his future Depay has made it clear that Champions League football is crucial, stating;

‘Maybe I will play in the Champions League next season with PSV, maybe it will be with another great club,’

‘I do not plan,’ he said.

‘I just want to make steps in my career.’

This source believes a move to Man United is a distinct possibility and clearly van Gaal knows Depay well from his time in charge of the Dutch national team set-up, indeed he handed the youngster a prominent role at this summer’s World Cup finals, during which he netted against both Australia and Chile.

The £18m rated wide-man is in the middle of an amazing season thus far, netting 16 goals in 20 appearances.

Van Gaal has been strongly linked with an interest in Gareth Bale and youngster Adnan Januzaj is struggling to hold on to a spot in the Man United starting eleven so the addition of a fresh wide-attacking option does seem likely.
