(Video) Liverpool 4-1 Swansea City – Adam Lallana stands out in excellent Reds performance

Liverpool put on their best performance since they beat Tottenham in August…

Liverpool dismantled Swansea City with a strong performance full of good passing and good movement at Anfield. Adam Lallana scored twice, while Alberto Moreno and a Jonjo Shelvey own goal completed the scoring for the hosts.

The Spanish full-back struck first, adding to his growing reputation. He started the move with a pass to Adam Lallana, who in turn slipped Jordan Henderson into space on the left. The midfielder’s low cross was then smashed into the net from close range:

Swansea might have been down to ten men before the end of the first-half. Jonjo Shelvey certainly deserved to see red after elbowing Emre Can:

After the break, Lallana made it 2-0 thanks to a slice of good fortune. Fabiasnki takes an age on the ball after a back pass. His clearance smacks into the onrushing Lallana and bounces over him and into the net. What a fluke:

But it didn’t take long for Swansea to hit back – less than a minute in fact. Gylfi Sigurdsson converted from close range after Wilfried Bony and Mamadou Sakho challenged for Wayne Routledge’s cross.

Lallana then enjoyed his best moment in a Liverpool shirt. Philippe Coutinho’s deft flick sent Lallana through the midfield. He cut inside a couple of defenders before striking low into the net with his left foot.

And Shelvey’s night went from bad to worse after his own goal made it four.

But after the officials missed Shelvey’s elbow, Raheem Sterling was also lucky to get away with this one:
