Podolski joined Arsenal from German outfit Cologne two and a half years ago, but despite a handful of spectacular goals for the Gunners and a relatively impressive goalscoring ratio, who he has never been able to nail down a regular place in Wenger’s first team in North London.

He seems to have finally grown frustrated with the situation and is pushing for a January move, with Inter Milan confident of bringing him to the San Siro on a loan move, with Roberto Mancini’s side well aware that they would be unlikely to be able to meet the fee required to capture Podolski on a permanent deal.

Podolski has not yet heard from Wenger and the club over whether he will be allow to pursue more regular opportunities in Italy, however, where Inter desperately need strengthening after a woeful first half to the season that has left them marooned in mid-table.
