Milan are said to be thinking over the possibility of offloading the Italian international next month in order to fee up funds to reinvest in the squad elsewhere.

The news comes as a boost to Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool, who can now sign the 22-year-old for as little as £11.5m.

His agent, Manuel El Shaarawy, recently said that he believed it would take a ‘sensational’ figure to part with the player, but it now appears that the club have had a change of heart and will let him go for a fairly reasonable amount.

“I have not been contacted by any club,” the representative said.

“Stephan will not leave Milan in January unless there is a sensational offer, the type that no-one can be sure will arrive.

“He is at the centre of the Milan project, and the relationship with the Coach and the environment is excellent.”
