The 30 year old former England international looks likely to leave Villa Park having been sent to Brighton on loan and could certainly be keen to move to Selhurst Park as he seeks to reignite his ailing career.

Pardew worked with Bent at Charlton Athletic and will be handed significant transfer funds in January and will look to improve his striking options.

Bent cost Aston Villa a club record £18m back in January 2011 and one imagines Paul Lambert’s side would accept less than half that fee now.

When called upon Bent has proven fairly effective at Villa Park, netting 25 goals in 53 starts.
