The ball hit Wes Morgan in the face, but referee Mike Jones awarded a penalty for handball. The decision changed the game as the Merseyside club went on to take the lead from it. The former Foxes man was incensed by the decision.

He tweeted, “Worst penalty decision ever as Mike Jones gives handball against Leicester’s Morgan at Anfield when it him in the face.”

Nigel Pearson looks set to be under even more pressure as his team continue to struggle in the relegation zone. They will need to pick up some better results if they want to survive in the top flight.

However, Brendan Rodgers will have been happy for the set piece to be given as his side work their way back in to form. They won their last match 4-1 against Swansea City, and started to look more like they did in the last campaign where they managed to finish second.
