The winger limped off during the Red Devils’ match with Stoke City, the game ended 1-1 at the Britannia stadium. The England international was forced off in the 74th minute of the match after seemingly pulling his hamstring trying to collect a pass from Juan Mata.

Louis van Gaal’s first year at Old Trafford has been hit by many injury problems, at times the Dutchman has had to deal with having over eleven players stuck on the sidelines. After he match the 63-year-old revealed that it is likely the winger will be ruled out for “many weeks”.

However, the 29-year-old is still to have a scan on what looks like a hamstring problem, so the date of the player’s return is yet to be finalised. Young had been filling in at left-back in recent weeks because of injuries to Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, and Daley Blind. He had been successful in his new position.

There is some good news though, with Luke Shaw apparently okay to carry on playing, “Young, you can see is a hamstring. But Shaw is not such a problem, I think. He just needs more time on the field,” the boss said.
