The 27 year old striker isn’t happy at the Parc des Princes and is set to leave the club having been left out of Laurent Blanc’s winter training camp, though Arsene Wenger is likely to avoid a January bid in favour of a move at the end of the current campaign.

Though Wenger has recently shown his willingness to fork out big sums for the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez one wonders if the Gunners boss would need to spend a club record fee on another attacker when there are more pressing issues in other areas of his Emirates Stadium squad.

The north London side could well do with another central defender or a midfield enforcer and have a raft of options in the final third.

That said Cavani is a quality performer and certainly superior to Arsenal’s first choice central striking option Olivier Giroud.

Cavani has netted 38 goals in 65 appearances since moving to the French capital and bagged 104 goals in three hugely successful seasons at Napoli.
