The 24 year old Pole made two howlers against Southampton on New Year’s Day and this has left Wenger ready to make a move for Blues bench warmer Cech.

The Czech Republic international has found himself in the unusual position of acting as a back-up at Stamford Bridge following Jose Mourinho’s decision to usher in Belgian Thibaut Courtois after his three season long loan spell at Atletico Madrid.

Cech is too good a keeper to be left stagnating on the sidelines and may be open to a move from west to north London and Mourinho may be open to such a deal having proven with the sale of Juan Mata last January that he is willing to sell to a rival club if necessary.

Colombian keeper David Ospina, 26 is set to start Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Hull City.

On the subject of a possible move to the Emirates Stadium Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar, has stated:

“I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him.

“I think Petr would be considering it.”

Cech has made 478 appearances for Chelsea, helping the Blues to a host of honours including three Premier League titles as well as Champions and Europa League triumphs.
