The Ivory Coast international has been surprisingly good since rejoining his former club at age 36, but still finds himself down the pecking order somewhat.

Despite having made 22 appearances in all competitions, it is hardly surprising that he is behind £32m summer signing Diego Costa; while one time Arsenal target Loic Remy is battling alongside him to be Jose Mourinho’s second choice.

The Portuguese manager is also thought to be weighing up a move for Croatian forward Andrej Kramaric, which would see Drogba’s chances of first team football reduced even further.

The Chelsea legend is expected to announce his impending retirement shortly, with a view to taking up a coaching role at the club come the end of the season.
