Podolski was granted a short term loan deal to Inter Milan from Arsenal in his search for more time on the pitch after becoming frustrated with life on the bench at the Emirates.

However, Matthaus says the striker only has himself to blame for his lack of game time with the Gunners and said he seems to be more interested in Twitter than playing professional football.

“Lukas has his qualities; now he must prove them by bringing them back to the pitch,” he said, reports Goal.com.

“In the past we heard how he tweets more than he plays. He needs to concentrate on football.”

However, Podolski immediately hit back at his outspoken countryman saying: “I find it very amusing that Matthaus should give me precise tips on how to behave.”

The German only made two starts this season, with none coming in the Premier League and Podolski’s career at Arsenal is surely over despite the move to Milan being on a non-permanent basis.
