The Spaniard is a January transfer target for the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, but may disappoint all three by signing a new deal with the Cataland giants.
Having spent his entire career at Barcelona, it was believed that the 26-year-old was looking for a new challenge. La Liga club are determined to hold onto him however, and are ready to put a bumper new deal on the table.
The Gunners in particular are badly in need of a dominant defensive midfielder, and have been linked with a huge number of players in recent weeks.
Barca are having to deal with a transfer ban however, and are therefore unlikely to want to let any of their star players go until they are confident they can replace them.
