St James’ Park side turn to Napoli manager to fill vacant post.
Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly one of a number of names on Newcastle United’s short-list as the Magpies look for a long term replacement for Alan Pardew according to the Daily Mail.
The 54 year old Spaniard is currently in charge of Napoli but could perhaps be open to a Premier League return, having spent six years in charge at Anfield.
Derby County’s Steve McClaren and Dane Michael Laudrup are also strongly linked with the St James’ park post whilst caretaker boss John Carver is also said to be hoping to take over on a full-time basis.
Benitez also spent a season in charge of Chelsea and his family still live in the country, which may further influence any potential decision to leave the San Paolo for Newcastle United.
