Chelsea Set To Miss Out On January Target Due To Premier League Rules

Andrej Kramaric now looks set to join Leicester City.

Chelsea look set to miss out on Croatian striker Andrej Kramaric from Rijeka due to a piece of small print in the Premier League rulebook, report the Mirror, with the 23 year-old goal machine now looking set to secure a permanent move to strugglers Leicester City instead of moving to Stamford Bridge.

Kramaric did look set to move to Chelsea after the Blues agreed a fee with Rijeka for the player, but the plan was to loan the striker to Leicester until the end of the season to allow him to acclimatise to Premier League football, a move that it has emerged is not possibly under Premier League regulations.

The Blues have also proven unwilling to reassure Kramaric that he would be recalled to Stamford Bridge as part of the club’s first team picture next season, which has put doubt in the player’s mind as to whether a move to the West London outfit is the best move for him.

Nigel Pearson’s basement boys now look set to secure a move for Kramaric that is worth almost £10m, a huge transfer outlay for a club staring relegation back to the Championship in the face, with the Foxes set to pin their survival hopes on the Croatian.
