The German signed for the Serie A giants on a six month loan deal on Monday, and is already looking to become a favourite at the San Siro. The 29-year-old is apparently aspiring to equal the exploits of several legends at the club. These icons include the Brazilian Ronaldo, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Lothar Matthaus.

“Now it’s official: I’m part of the glorious world-famous club Inter,” Podolski wrote on his official Facebook page. “I’m greatful [sic] for the confidence the club has in me and will pay it back with strong performances.

“I hope to rank among club legends like Ronaldo, Zanetti, [Jurgen] Klinsmann, [Andreas] Brehme, [Lothar] Matthaus and many others one day,” he added.

The temporarily departed Gunner also thanked his new manager Roberto Mancini as well as sports director Piero Ausilio for having faith in his ability and bringing him to Serie A. Podolski could make his debut for the Italian club in their league match away against Juventus on Tuesday.

He continued, “I want to give a special thanks to coach Roberto Mancini who made a big effort for me to come to Inter, he made it an easy decision for me also sports director Piero Ausilio who made this transfer happen.”

Meanwhile, the loss of the World Cup winner may mean that Arsenal now have to look at the very least for a short term replacement. The former Bayern Munich ace played on the left wing for the North London club.
