Spurs ready to blink first in the chase for Aston Villa contract rebel Fabian Delph.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to make the first move in the chase for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph, report the Mirror, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side set to make a £3 million offer for the England international who is out of contract at Villa Park at the end of the season and looks unlikely to sign a new deal.

With Villa fearing that the former Leeds United trainee could walk aaway from the club for nothing at the end of the season, they could well be tempted to accept an offer far below what Delph’s valuation would ordinarily be – with Spurs feeling that £3m could be enough to lure Delph to White Hart Lane.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Delph, who is currently on the treatment table with the latest in a serious of injuries that have curtailed his promising career, but they look set to lose ground to Spurs after failing to make the first move for Delph.

The report also suggests that Spurs could be tempted to try and reduce the fee for Delph even further by offering one of their surplus to requirements players as bait in a deal – with the likes of Paulinho, Aaron Lennon and Emmanuel Adebayor all mentioned.
