The Daily Express reports the Bundesliga giants are willing to sell the playmaker now rather than risk losing him an a free next summer.
Gundogan’s current deal expires in 2016 and is unlikely to extend his deal with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Gundogan has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool and both are expected to renew their interest if it’s revealed the German international is now on the market.
A £16 million fee is said to be enough to land the 24 year old either now or in the summer before Gundogan has the ability to leave on a Bosman next season.
